Magic Ant Network believes that education is the most important aspect of life, it shouldn’t be a privilege but a right. That is why we have created ‘Ant Education’, a program designed to educate students on the issues of today. This program covers the social and environmental issues that Magic Ant Network deal with. Currently, the program is only delivered in High Schools however, we are working on a syllabus for Primary schools and hope to have that ready in the next year.
‘Ant Education’ is flexible in delivery style, number of students and student age. We acknowledge that some of these issues are heavy and many students will have had personal experience with Homelessness and/or Domestic and Family Violence. Students who wish to leave the session when these topics are discussed are encouraged to do so, we do not deliver these sessions to upset a students life. Students will be provided an information sheet before entering the session and can opt out at any time.
An argument we here often is “These kids are too young to here about Domestic and Family Violence or the terrible treatment of Homeless people and animals”. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that “Two in five Australian adults had experienced violence since [the] age of 15”, “One in six women and one in ten men experienced abuse before [the] age of 15” (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2017). These statistics highlight the exact reason why these issues need to be taught to all ages. There need to be different ways to talk about these issues with different ages groups, but they must be talked about never the less.
If you are a teacher or administrator at a school, please reach out and have a chat about Ant Education and how we can deliver it at your school. If you are a student and think your school will benefit from an Ant Education session, talk to one of your teachers or contact us directly.
